It’s boo-hoo for BOO BASH—Disney announced that this fan-favorite after hours event would return after vanishing like a ghost during the last two years. So what is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?
What is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? MNSSHP is an After Hours event at the Magic Kingdom that celebrates Halloween. The event is limited in tickets and thus provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the season and ride the rides with low wait times. MNSSHP was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, a similar, abbreviated event called BOO BASH occurred during the Halloween season.
When is it? The event runs on select dates from August 12 through October 31, 2022.
Does this event cost extra? YES. This is an After Hours event, meaning it is separate from a park day admission ticket. It requires a separate ticket be purchased, and permits entry to the park at a certain time (see more about event hours below). To reiterate, a regular park day ticket (and park pass reservation) alone will not permit entry into MNSSHP.
Do I Need a Park Pass Reservation? NO. Because this is an After Hours event, you do not need to make a park pass reservation. Your MNSSHP ticket is all you need.
What time does it start? The event starts at 7PM and lasts to Midnight. However, guests with a ticket to MNSSHP can enter the park as early as 4PM on their scheduled date to enjoy even more time in the Magic Kingdom.
How much does it cost? The ticket will range in price from $109 to $199. The more popular the date, the higher the cost. Expect weekends and most of the month of October to be pricey.
What is included? Here is the fun part—MNSSHP is notable for its Halloween fun, including:
- Trick-Or-Treating stations all around the Magic Kingdom (the candy is included with your ticket)!
- Halloween-themed sweets and treats.
- Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, featuring popular characters and of course, villains!
- The Headless Horseman will take a haunting stroll down Main Street, U.S.A to kickoff the ghastly parade!
- Halloween overlays for several attractions, including: Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
- A stage show in front of Cinderella Castle called Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular.
- Perhaps most exciting, Jack Skellington will host Disney’s Not-So Spooky Spectacular, a nighttime show featuring fireworks, projections, and Disney characters!
Will the Event Celebrate the 50th Anniversary? Besides the actual return of MNSSHP, there will be some special touches in celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th Celebration. Guests will receive a special reusable trick-or-treat bag with designs celebrating Halloween and the park’s 50th Anniversary. There will also be “step-in” photo opportunities and a commemorative print. At this time, we don’t have more details on any of these items.
Are there any discounts? Annual Passholders and DVC members will have a special $10 discount on yet-to-be announced dates.
Tips for Parents: Though the event takes place in the evening, it is family friendly—hence the “not-so-scary” theme. I gathered the following information for parents considering taking their children to this event:
- Food Allergies. If you or your child have a food allergy, make sure to ask a Cast Member for a teal-colored treat bag. When you visit a trick-or-treat station with a teal bag, a Cast Member will give you a teal token. You can then redeem the teal tokens at our Allergy-Friendly Centers for your treats!
- Costumes. Guests are permitted to wear their costumes to MNSSHP, so make sure you dress to impress. Don’t forget to review Disney’s costume policies to make sure you comply with the rules.
- Early Entry. Remember that though MNSSHP does not start until 7PM, guests with MNSSHP tickets can enter the park as early as 4PM. This is GREAT for guests with little ones with early bedtimes. You can enter the park early and stay for the first couple of hours of the actual event before leaving when the kids are ready to sleep. That way, you and your little ones can enjoy MNSSHP!
When Can I Purchase? Tickets for guests staying at certain Disney resorts can begin purchasing tickets on May 12. Everyone else can begging purchasing tickets on May 18.
