A land dedicated to Zootopia is coming to Shanghai Disneyland, perhaps faster than we expected.

Announced to much fanfare in 2019, the Zootopia-themed land will be Shanghai Disneyland’s eighth themed land. Zootopia is the second major expansion in the park’s history (the first being Toy Story Land in 2018), and it will be the first Zootopia-themed land at any Disney park. And for good reason–according to Disney, Zootopia is the country’s number one animated film in history. The land will feature entertainment, merchandise, and food,m; attractions have yet to be announced.

Here is a look at a few of the photos of the rising Zootopia skyline:

The sheer scale of this land is impressive. The photos show colorful skyscrapers, and other buildings also under construction. In the distance you can see the Enchanted Storybook Castle and Tron Lightcycle Power Run. Zootopia will be located behind Fantasyland, next to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

As a reminder, back in 2021 Disney Imagineering shared other progress photos, including a sneak leak at an audio-animatronic of Polar Bear from Tundratown. According to Disney, these will be some of the most complex audio-animatronics outside of the U.S. Disney parks. Another photo shows the first tree being planted in Zootopia, a symbolic gesture of the land coming to life.

Though the park only recently reopened, it appears that things are moving full swing ahead. Zootopia looks to be a massive, exciting addition to a park that is only on the rise.

Are you excited about Zootopia? Do you think a Zootopia-themed land will come to the U.S. Disney parks?
